San Jose Del Cabo with Katie
In December 2017, I spent an amazing week at the Hyatt Ziva in San Jose Del Cabo.
I flew down on WestJet, a wonderful direct/nonstop short flight of just over four hours. In my opinion this is the number one selling feature of this destination, especially if travelling with young children. The next selling feature is the short 15 minute shuttle service from the airport to the Hyatt.
I highly recommend trying to upgrade to WestJet’s “Plus” seating 24 hours prior to departure for an extra $100 per person. “Plus” gives you some terrific added features:
- extra leg room
- empty middle seat
- complimentary meal service/snacks and drinks
- complimentary tablet for inflight entertainment
The Hyatt Ziva has absolutely everything you are looking for. Singles, families, and couples of all ages will love this resort. It is located along a beautiful stretch of beach where you can stroll or play in the wake for hours. It is not a swimming beach as the currents are too strong but it is breathtaking to look out over the water while enjoying a swim at the Hyatt’s many pools or from your own oceanview balcony.
The rooms at the Hyatt are very large and very well appointed. Everything is very tasteful and very comfortable with the added benefit of a limited room service menu. You also have a stocked fridge with beer/water/soft drinks and soda.
The food was also the best I have experienced at an all-inclusive property. They offer a wonderful buffet breakfast/lunch/dinner, both indoors or beachfront depending on your preference (and of course the weather conditions). They also offer a la carte dining at their other four restaurants, Japanese, Italian, Mexican and French cuisine. The Hyatt also offers a pop up BBQ at lunchtime poolside and pop up fiesta evening BBQ’s/Fiesta.
If you are travelling with children, they have a wonderful kids’ water park, lots for the kids to do. If you have travelled to get away, adults only can enjoy their very own pool/restaurant and swim up bar. There is an abundance of places to lounge and soak up the sun.
In the evening, you can kick back and relax by one of their many gas fire pits, or hang out in the piano or sports bar. They offer a beautiful theatre experience as well with some fantastic shows.
Across the street from the hotel you can easily walk to some local shopping, restaurants – even a Starbucks if you are feeling a little homesick.
It was a little chilly in the evenings this time of year, I would probably recommend the best time to travel would be February through April, as it starts to get very hot in May. Rain is very rare, so if you are looking for sun, this is the place to find it.
