Negril – Jamaica with Katie
My fam trip was to beautiful Negril, Jamaica where I was fortunate enough to spend seven nights in the wonderful resort of Beaches Negril.
Upon arrival we were greeted by Sandals/Beaches staff members and escorted to our private transportation to start our 90 minute scenic drive from Montego Bay to Negril. The staff were all very friendly and organized and entertained us on our way.
Upon arrival we were greeted with cold hand towels and a glass of champagne while we filled out some paper work, no long check in lines for us, which was much appreciated and such a nice touch.
Everything about the resort was perfection. The staff were very friendly and always available to help. The rooms were very clean and maintained daily. The restaurants/food were delicious with lots of variety.
Activities were tucked out of the way for the children which allowed quiet time for the adults. The children’s water-slide area was very well staffed with very diligent life guards so at no time did you need to worry about your child’s safety.
Negril beach is one of the longest beaches I have encountered and is very safe for swimming and for walking. I highly recommend Beaches Negril to anyone but especially to families with young children.
The two things that you must try in Jamaica are the Jerk Chicken and the Jamaican Patties, I would return to Jamaica just to eat the food. Go easy on the hot sauce until you know what you are dealing with!
I would suggest travelling to Jamaica in the early spring as this is their dry season. This way you get the heat without the humidity. You also should try to avoid hurricane season from mid-July to mid-November. However, you do get some good prices during the off season and most packages come with a hurricane guarantee so your holiday is protected.
The other suggestion would be to overnight in Toronto on your way down so you arrive at your destination well rested and ready to enjoy.
All you will need is your sunglasses/sun screen and your bathing suit, so get packing!
